Headwaters Conservation Area (HCA)

43W535 Beith Road

 

This 349-acre site of three parcels was acquired by the Township between 2002 and 2005 to preserve the headwaters of Blackberry Creek. The HCA is best known for its scenic vista, trails, and educational kiosks. Features include:

 

  • Parking and restroom

  • Picnic shelters & tables; charcoal grills

  • Playground

   
   
  • Viewing platform

  • Equestrian trails (separate from gravel walking trails)

   
  • Fenced off-leash dog area

  • Prairie & wetland restoration

  • Small woodland

Anderson Park on Brown Road

 

A multi-use, 50-acre site (formerly called "Campton Community Park") made available by the Anderson family for purchase by the Township.

 

Features include:

  • Parking and restrooms

  • Picnic shelters & table

  • Playground

  • Tennis Courts

  • Baseball, soccer, and softball fields

  • Prairie gardens & Children's Memorial Butterfly Garden

  • Hiking and fitness trail

  • Nature areas, including prairie restoration

Poynor Park

Located on Swanberg Road
(Scheduled to open in 2009)

 

A multi-use 121-acre site purchased by the Township in 2004 for recreation and natural area reconstruction.

 

Features include:

  • Parking and restroom

  • Softball and baseball fields

  • Open field

  • Playground

  • Picnic shelter

  • Wetland and prairie planting

  • Trails

Corron Farm

Located at 7N761 Corron Road

A 221-acre site made available by the Corron family for Township purchase. Corron Farm is devoted to preservation of historic farmstead and natural woodland, savanna and wetland, plus re-creation of native plants.

Features include:

  • Nature stude and nature-related recreation such as bird-watching, sketching, walking, etc.

  • Temporary parking and toilet

  • Woodland trail

  • Savanna trail

  • Prairie trail

  • Picnic tables (drinking water not available)

Harley Woods

 

A wooded area of 46 acres, plus a conservation easement on two parcels comprising 13 acres.
